We Need an Information Technology Representative Body
October 17, 2007
Its about time we banded together and got some real clout! I just got wind that 12 months ago Wizard was in deep financial trouble and re-financed. It is totally unethical for them still take contractors money knowing that they were going under.
At the very least they should have made provision to ensure that income derived from the people earning the money was set aside to be paid to them. After all, its not Wizard’s money. They didn’t earn it! Plain and simple.
This kind of thing can’t be allowed to happen again. We need to band together and form some a representative body that pushes back hard on these kind of agencies. I don’t know anyone who is a big fan of their PIMP so lets get organised and take control back off the agencies and put it where it really belongs - back with the people who do the real work!
Who’s with me?

You are correct, there must be a better way for both customers and contractor’s to be engaged. As it stand, the value proposition just doesn’t exist for either party. Time for change!!!

1) All percentages should be upfront and disclosed to all parties (agency, client, contractor)
2) The financial mechanism that the agency uses to ensure continuity of pay (i.e. overdraft, whatever) should be not be accessible to the agency or any receiver. Contractors should have first cut of it.

I agree tottaly. There must be change and at the very least the agencies should not be able to touch the money we earn.
